Do you dig Christ?

Yesterday was the Sunday where evangelicals across the theological landscape stress the spiritual disciplines like bible reading and prayer. Of course we should, but Pastor Matt said something that struck a chord and I paraphrase, “are you playing with the tools or are you digging for treasure”.
So as we rededicate ourselves to these disciplines this new year, might the end goal be the treasure that is Christ and not the activity of “digging” itself.

It's been a long time. I can't believe my last blog post was 6 months ago! That's what long work weeks will do. They tend to blend into each other and I just feel like all I do is work. No creating, no composing, just work work work. God is teaching, breaking, molding, and training me. His mercies are not at as pleasant as I would have thought, but they're there nonetheless. He is revealing my sinfulness with increasing fervor and hopelessness is now my chief characteristic. Hopelessness in myself, that is. My hope is rooted in Him, His righteousness, His justice, His mercy, His grace.
